How about instead of doing something about yourself or something that you know, why don’t you do it about someone else or someone that you don’t know.

You could do something like this for Detroit: http://www.nytimes.com/packages/html/nyregion/1-in-8-million/index.html
And do profiles and interviews with “normal” people who probably have very interesting stories.

Or you could do a blog on things you have little to no expertise on. For instance, you could have readers challenge you with a topic, say, Amoebas. You would have to write something on Amoebas that is interesting. Then the next week someone challenges with Zimbabwe and you have to somehow link the topics of Amoebas to Zimbabwe in an interesting way.
